The Onkyo TX-SR607 - A Review

Depending on what you use this device with it should be fine with anything, but in case what you are using is outdated you might first want to make sure that they will fit fine together. It is very easy to set up so there should be no problems there. The on-screen display will show you how the set up should take place, making it very simple.

The sound of the Onkyo is amazing; it is crystal clear, so clean and sounds so open. It will make audio sound like you have never heard it before. So crisp and clear! If you choose to use it to listen to music, you will hear the words of the song more clearly than you have heard them before. You will hear the difference immediately.

The Onkyo TX SR607 works at its best when it"s got the full seven speaker array, it does however, support fewer speakers as needed (this is something that"s been standard for digital home theater systems for years, but it"s nice they didn"t cut the feature out). Even with left, right and subwoofer, the Onkyo"s sound quality is impressive. Because of the HDMI interface, it"ll also play nicely with your Blu-Ray player, giving you cinema quality sound to go with cinema quality movies.

While the Onkyo claims to support all HDMI devices, its implementation of the 1.3a specification was a bitfrustrating to configure. We tried getting it to work through the Viera Link interface, and eventually had to do a flash upgrade to get the CEG HDMI to work. Once it was configured, it worked perfectly, but we hope the production version has a better implementation in the firmware.

The RIHD is also supposed to work with Samsung, Sony, Toshiba versions, and should work with the Viera Link, but once again it proves to provide difficulties. However, if the problem persists and you cannot have the machine replaced you can get an IR repeater that will solve the problem. You shouldn"t have to purchase additional equipment, but if you feel the need to at least you know what to get.

With all the reviews read on the internet, the feature of the Onkyo that people found the best was the sound quality. Most people said that they have never before come across something that can play such perfect audio. It shouldn"t take you long to set up but it may take you some time to get used to.

While the configuration is a bit of a hassle, the feature set for the price is unparalleled. Strongly recommended.
